Binder is adding new field-wiring, overmolded M8 cable connectors to its 718 product line, which are specifically designed for installation in sensor and actuator applications.

In addition to 3-pin and 4-pin, they are now also available in 5-pin and 6-pin versions. The company announced that they are equipped with PUR or PVC cables with standard lengths of up to 2m or 5m, and lengths can be customized according to requirements.

Since the snap-in locking mechanism does not require any rotating components, industrial circular connector experts say that they are particularly easy to operate and efficient in use.

As far as its specifications are concerned, the connector meets the IP65 protection level requirements when paired. The male contacts are gold-plated brass and the female contacts are bronze. These allow more than 50 mating cycles.

The rated voltage is between 30 V and 60 V, and the product is suitable for rated currents from 1.5A to 3A, depending on the wire gauge and the number of pins: 3 and 4-pin versions are designated as 2A (0.14 mm2 wire gauge) and 4A respectively (0.25 mm2, 0.34 mm2 and AWG 22); 5-pin and 6-pin versions are used for 3A and 1.5A, respectively.

They can withstand rated pulse voltages of 1500 V (3-pin and 4-pin) and 800 V (5-pin and 6-pin). And all connectors in this series can operate reliably at temperatures from -40 °C to 70 °C under static conditions.

The Nottingham-based company emphasized the relevance of sensors and actuators to automation, whether in the context of smart factories, drones or general Industry 4.0.

"With the M8 circular connector and quick locking mechanism, we are consolidating our position as a provider of automation technology solutions," said Guido Werner, binder product manager. "We are happy to provide more variants upon request, even customer-specific solutions with snap-on latches."

The part number of the male connector is (79 3409 52 03) and the part number of the female connector is (79 3410 02 03). You can find more information on the company website.
