Aug 2022: Amphenol’s latest range of high-power, high-voltage connectors designed for high-voltage and high-current systems in E-Flight, E-VTOL and hybrid applications can now be sourced through Powell Electronics, the supplier of connectors and more for high-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial. The devices benefit from partial discharge free performance at an operating voltage of 2.0KV AC(rms) at 35.000 ft, making them ideal for applications such as batteries, generators, motors and power distribution units. Raptor connectors are also ideal for termination of screened HV power cables in aerospace applications.

Based on the successful and proven Amphenol Ltd Rhino series for ground power applications, but now re-engineered for aerospace applications and using the new TALON contacts from Ampheno, Raptor connectors are available in shell sizes 15 to 25 and benefit from many new features such as a very high temperature capability of up to +200°C, IP68 sealing, increased creepage and clearance distances as well as an anti-decoupling ratchet mechanism on both coupling ring and backshell, ensuring a reliable connection even under high vibrations. With superior EMC performance, Electroless Nickel plating and a high voltage insulation system the Raptor connector series ensures a reliable connection for high power e-flight systems.

New applications and technology are driving demand for even more compute and functionality in the devices we use every day. System on chip (SoC) designs are quickly migrating to new process nodes, and rapidly growing in size and complexity. In this episode of Chalk Talk, Amelia Dalton chats with Rod Metcalfe about how machine learning combined with distributed computing offers new capabilities to automate and scale RTL to GDS chip implementation flows, enabling design teams to support more, and increasingly complex, SoC projects.
