Several HDMI standards are integrated in the Adam Tech high speed HDMI 2.1 connector/cable assembly, available from Omni Pro Electronics. The distributor is a New Yorker Electronics company.

The assembly provides uncompressed 8K video with HDR, and support bandwidth speeds up to 48Gbps. In addition to support for 4K video, the assembly has eARC (enhanced audio return channel), VRR (variable refresh rate), ALLM (auto low latency mode), QFT (quick frame transport) and QMS (quick media switching). Performance is 8K UHD (7680 x 4320) at 60Hz and 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) at 129Hz.

All of these contribute to fast responses, primarily for gaming but also applicable to other display applications. eARC is the upgrade to ARC which enables a TV to send audio to a soundbar or AV receiver over a single HDMI cable to simplify set up. The VRR and ALLM standards refresh the screen quickly while QFT accelerates the transmission of each frame from the graphics processor to rendering on screen for ‘close to live’ imaging.  QMS eliminates the blackout period of between one to three seconds when an HDMI source device switches video mode.

The connector has an HDMI A 2.1 receptacle and the cable has double-ended HDMI A 2.1 plugs. Contact resistance is 30mΩ, with an insulation resistance of 100mΩ and a dielectric withstanding voltage of 300V ac. The connector housing is made of high-temperature black thermoplastic (UL94V-0) with a brass and nickel plated shell. It is rated for 10,000 cycles with an insertion force of 4.5Kgf and a withdrawal force of 1kgf~4.0kgf.

The 26AWG double-ended male-to-male cables are available in lengths of three, six, 10 and 16.5ft with HDMI-A 2.1 plugs. The cable plug pins are gold flash plated with a tin over nickel shell with a black 55P PVC over-mould and insulator.

All assemblies are lead-free and RoHS-compliant. All Adam Tech-manufactured connectors and cable assemblies, waterproof solutions and advanced automotive solutions are tested for electric capabilities and pressures, said Omni Pro. The franchised distributor supplies Adam Tech’s full line of supply pins, connectors, plugs and assemblies.

Omni Pro Electronics specialises in interconnect, electromechanical and passive components for industrial, commercial and aerospace/defence applications.
