DJI Action 2 is the latest action camera from DJI. The newly launched action camera is expected to arrive in Nepal within a month.

DJI Innovation stands for DJI Innovation and is the global leader in commercial drones (commonly known as drones). The company is known for its drones, and various sources claim that it has covered nearly 70% of the global drone market. Although most of its products focus on aerial photography and photography, DJI Action focuses on action photography and photography.

When it comes to action cameras, you all have a common name, which is GoPro. The launch of DJI Action 2 means that it will finally be compared with the latest Hero 10 that GoPro released earlier this year. High-definition slow motion, ultra-delay, time-lapse, UVC, and live broadcast are some of the interesting features of DJI Action 2, which may bring serious challenges to GoPro Hero 10.

However, some specifications are different between the front touch screen module and the power supply module.

DJI Action is labelled as "Contending Power", and it really lives up to its name. This is an action-rich sports camera, ultra-portable, and DJI's most powerful sports camera to date. This is a compact square camera with a size of only 39*39*22.3mm and a weight of only 56 grams, all thanks to its aluminum alloy body.

The DJI Action 2 camera is also dustproof, waterproof and drop-proof. It includes the camera unit and various modules-front touch screen module, power supply module and various installation peripherals-can be interchanged, making it very versatile. These modules also come with an additional battery to extend the battery life of the camera. In addition to the battery, it also has a USB-C connector and a microSD card slot.

The camera unit is equipped with a 1.76-inch OLED touch screen, and there is an additional OLED screen on the front touch screen module, which is connected to the bottom of the camera unit through a magnetic lock, and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass. Magnetic lock is a new product in the action camera category.

There is a 1/1.7” CMOS 12MP ultra-wide camera sensor mounted in a miniature camera body with an OLED screen on the back. It has a 155-degree field of view (FOV) and an aperture of f/2.8.

The 12MP camera can take beautiful photos, and you can get the same image quality at any frame rate. DJI Action 2 can record videos at [email protected] fps, allowing you to capture high-definition slow-motion videos and get smooth images with rich details. You can choose to set automatic stop recording on this sports camera, and it will automatically stop recording at the set time.

The 155 ultra-wide FOV also allows for incredible shots while capturing the surrounding environment for immersive shots. The customized aspheric lens sharpens the edges and reduces image distortion. DJI Action 2 uses RockSteady 2.0, the company's proprietary electronic image stabilization (EIS) technology, which can achieve smooth pictures.  

It also has a stable horizon, which keeps the lens level regardless of the situation. For action lovers, this may be a great addition. Other features include time-lapse photography, 8x slow motion and digital zoom.

The camera unit of DJI Action 2 has a battery, which can last up to 70 minutes. When connected to the front touch screen module, the battery life increases to 160 minutes, and when connected to the power module, it can reach 180 minutes.

It is worth mentioning that the front touch screen module uses DJI matrix stereo technology. Combining the camera unit with the front touch screen module means that the camera gets three additional microphones, which help to record audio from all directions and create immersive sound during playback.

An interesting feature of DJI Action 2 is that it has an audio zoom function, which means that when the video is zoomed in, the audio will also create dynamic and focused audio. Another option in the audio you have is that you can choose the focus direction, which is pretty cool. DJI also has its own app, DJI Mimo, so that users can create and edit their captures there.

DJI Action 2 is a powerful tool very suitable for action lovers. It is small and can be carried around without any hassle. However, it can capture some wonderful videos with rich details.

The modular form of the camera is what attracts you the most. For users, magnetic brackets are definitely new and interesting things. In addition to capturing great videos, this compact device can also be used as a webcam. Stability is equally amazing. Shooting 4K video at 120fps is commendable, and there are not many devices that can really do this. In addition, please don't forget that the device is waterproof to 33 feet and can be used underwater without a casing.

So great, it also has its limitations. Although the price of the camera unit may be affordable, it becomes very high when you choose the front-screen option, which really makes you think about whether you should buy it instead of GoPro. In addition, overheating is also a problem when shooting long videos.

The internal storage capacity is 32GB, which is good because GoPro does not, but it also means that you have to buy a power module or a front touch screen module to get additional memory, because the main camera unit itself does not have a card slot. Although you can get additional memory after installing the module, this action camera loses its waterproof credibility and must be supported by a waterproof case for underwater shooting, and you must purchase it separately. Don't forget that the main camera unit also has only one microphone, so you must purchase this module anyway to take full advantage of this sports camera.

DJI Action 2’s Power Combo is priced at US$399, which includes the DJI Action 2 camera unit, power module, magnetic lanyard and magnetic adapter bracket.

Dual-Screen Combo is priced at US$519 and includes DJI Action 2 camera unit, front touch screen module, magnetic lanyard, magnetic ball joint mount and magnetic adapter mount.

It has not officially entered Nepal, but you may see them in the next few days. You can expect the price range of the Power Combo up to 55,000 rupees and the price range of the dual-screen Combo up to 70,000 rupees.
