Ikelite Announces Supply of Case for Canon EOS R5

2021-11-26 03:05:44 By : Ms. Jenny Yan

Just over a month after Canon EOS R5 was released, Ikelite launched a new case for 45 megapixel full frame. The flagship mirrorless camera is a true hybrid camera that not only provides high-resolution still images with impressive 12fps continuous shooting (continuous autofocus), but also provides 8K/30p and 4K/120p internal video capture: 2:2 quality.

The first-to-market housing has all the features of Ikelite: the iconic ABS-PC body and transparent back panel; dry lock (DL) port system; large lever for shutter release and AF-L button; optional through installation DL5 DS Link TTL converter, use one or two compatible Ikelite DS series flashes for TTL exposure. And if you don't need TTL, you can manually trigger various brands of strobes out of the box, including Sea&Sea and Inon, as well as Ikelite's own. Crucially, there is an M16 port for the HDMI bulkhead, so the videographer can connect an external monitor/recorder.

Shipped at the end of August, the house sold for $1,695.

200DL underwater housing is suitable for Canon EOS R5 mirrorless digital camera

A full-featured durable waterproof case for Canon EOS R5 full-frame mirrorless digital camera. Suitable for scuba diving, snorkeling, surfing, swimming pools, and any application in or in the water.

Canon EOS R5 Mirrorless Camera

The 2020 Canon EOS R5 is one of Canon's most anticipated new cameras in the past decade. Equipped with a new 45-megapixel CMOS sensor in a durable weatherproof sealed body with an OLED electronic viewfinder. Videographers can shoot 30p and 24p 8K RAW video or up to 120p oversampled 4K footage.

With its dual-pixel AF II system, 1053 AF points and deep learning functions that can track people and animals, autofocus is very fast and accurate even in low-light environments. The image stabilization system inherited from EOS R can reduce camera shake by up to 8 stops, depending on the lens installed.

Canon continues to expand its line of RF mount lenses designed specifically for mirrorless camera bodies. In addition, with the EF-EOS R mount adapter, Canon shooters can also use their favorite EF mount lens.

The enclosure uses our robust dry lock (DL) port system. "Dry lock" refers to placing the O-ring on the outside of the port mount. This improves visibility and reduces the chance of water dripping onto your precious camera sensor. The DL port is the lightest port on the market, but it is sturdy and durable and can withstand heavy storms. The attachment is fast and safe. An expansion system can easily accommodate a variety of lenses.

Most popular zoom lenses and selected lens focus rings can be engaged using simple gears, making adjustments within easy reach. The large and soft knob on the side of the housing makes fine-tuning a breeze. The zoom and focus gears differ depending on the lens you are using. The zoom gear is sold separately.

The included vacuum valve allows you to pressurize the housing to check for leaks before putting expensive equipment in the water. The use of the vacuum valve requires a compatible vacuum pump, the vacuum pump number is 47011, sold separately.

There is no better guarantee than being able to see your camera and O-ring seal through the back of the case. Our iconic slotted design suspends the rear O-ring in a natural position, which is easier to maintain and more reliable than forcing the O-ring into the channel. After the enclosure is closed, you can see that the O-ring forms a strong waterproof seal.

The shell allows you to choose to shoot manual flash or add TTL electronic devices according to the application. The included manual hot shoe with Ikelite ICS-5 partition supports manual stroboscopic exposure, including Ikelite, SEA&SEA, INON, etc.

Enjoy the fastest and most accurate stroboscopic exposure on the market by adding DL5 DS Link Canon TTL converter and CT1 TTL hot shoe kit # 46075 and compatible Ikelite DS strobe. DS Link can be programmed to the camera's specific TTL protocol, and supports front-curtain and rear-curtain synchronization, up to the camera's maximum flash synchronization speed. You can add or subtract exposure compensation in the camera. The buttons and indicators on the side of the converter can easily switch back and forth between TTL and manual underwater exposure.

The reliable locking connector between the hot shoe and the bulkhead allows you to easily install the CT1 TTL hot shoe or carry spare parts when traveling to remote areas.

When you need to focus on composition, focus, and proper exposure, good ergonomics is essential. The large, curved lever puts the most important controls where you need them: shutter and autofocus (via the AF-L button). This combination allows you to shoot with or without the back button to focus, which is an advanced technology that can be used to sharply focus on super macro and fast-moving objects. When using the right-hand handle, each lever can be extended with the optional trigger extension # 4077.95 for perfect spacing.

Rotary controls are intuitively operated through high-quality light-tap knobs. An oversized leaf-shaped knob puts the zoom/focus knob at your fingertips, while your left hand remains on the handle. The stainless steel, direct-drive rotation control is actually fail-safe, and users can perform maintenance and adjustments in critical junctures.

All rear camera buttons can be operated by smooth operation, hard anodized aluminum buttons, reliable performance and easy to maintain. These controls are clearly marked by laser engraving on the back of the housing and will never fade or fall off.

The camera bracket is front-mounted, easy to install and remove. A small mounting plate is attached to the bottom of the camera and fixed to the front of the housing. When using or replacing the battery or memory card on the surface, there is no need to remove the camera mounting plate from the camera. There is a 1/4-20 threaded mount at the bottom of the mounting plate, so it can be connected to a tripod on the surface.

Use the camera's built-in wi-fi function to download photos to another device without removing the camera from the case. The WiFi function can only be used on the water surface close to the connected device.

When viewing through a diving mask, the included Super-Eye viewfinder provides an enhanced view of the camera's optical viewfinder. The viewfinder can be quickly and easily removed to install the optional linear zoom viewfinder (type 2) #6890.1 or 45° zoom viewfinder (type 3) #6891.3. The 45º viewfinder angle is more ergonomic when shooting underwater It also provides a larger and brighter field of vision than the standard Super-Eye.

The spare M16 threaded accessory port provides a connection point for third-party accessories (including HDMI bulkheads).

The housing, tray and handle are optimized to reduce weight while maintaining strength and durability. You can add or remove the right quick release handle # 4077.02 (sold separately) according to your needs. The precision-machined aluminum base has a 1/4-20 tripod mounting socket and additional mounting locations for future accessories. When your system is damaged due to travel, the base and handle can be quickly removed.

The 1/4-20 threaded mounting points are located at the front and center of the housing above the lens port mount. This mount can be used to connect light accessories such as focus lights or GoPro cameras.

If you use two flashes or lighting arms for shooting, you can add a top handle to facilitate travel to and from the dive site. The top handle can be used for cable handle # 4080.09 or aluminum top handle # 4080.08. The rigid aluminum version provides additional mounting points for lighting and accessories.

It is strongly recommended to add a dedicated focus light to the top mount or strobe arm to achieve more accurate autofocus in low light settings.

Our new ABS-PC hybrid front panel is durable, provides better contrast and visibility, keeps your camera cool when running in the sun, and is much lighter than aluminum alternatives.

Each enclosure is manufactured in the United States, individually checked for suitability, and subjected to a 200-foot (60-meter) water pressure test.

SEA&SEA, INON and Retra flashes with electrical connections can be triggered using the synchronized power cord in manual exposure mode. A flash without an electronic sync line connection cannot be connected to this system, except from a hard-wired flash.

Older non-digital strobe lights with ICS-5 electronic sync cord spacers can be used with the system in manual exposure mode.

Only fiber optic strobe lights are not compatible with this installation. The external flash must be connected via an electronic sync line.

The flashlight with remote slave function can be triggered by the flashlight connected to the housing through the synchronization power cord. Ikelite DS flash supports remote triggering using Optical Slave Converter # 4405 or Water Wizard system (manufactured and sold by Aquatica).

This case is only compatible with Canon EOS R5 cameras shipped by the manufacturer. Unless otherwise specified, this case is not suitable for use with additional handles, battery handles, eyepieces, LCD covers, or other accessories.

There is not enough information to indicate whether Canon EOS R6 can be used in this case.

The difference in lens and control position prevents other camera models from being used or adapted in this housing. We are not aware of any other models available or suitable for this particular enclosure.
